Affiliate disclosure and advertising
Last updated:
Half Term Planner is free to use. To keep it that way, we earn money in two ways: affiliate links and advertising.
Affiliate links
Some links go to holiday companies through an affiliate network (currently Awin). If you click one and then book, the company pays us a commission. You don't pay any more: the price is the same as going direct.
How we label them
- Every box with affiliate links has a clear Ad label at the top, before you reach the links. It is followed by a short explanation that we may earn commission.
- Affiliate links are marked in the page code as sponsored (
rel="sponsored"), as search engines ask. - Display adverts, when we run them, are labelled "Advertisement".
We follow the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising (CAP Code) and the Advertising Standards Authority's guidance on affiliate marketing. We also follow consumer protection law enforced by the Competition and Markets Authority, which bans hidden advertising.
Our independence
- Commission never affects the school dates we show, or which councils we cover.
- We pick holiday companies we think families will find useful for school-holiday breaks. We don't accept payment to appear in our boxes, apart from affiliate commission.
- We don't write reviews in exchange for payment or free stays. If we ever publish anything we've been given for free, we'll label it clearly.
